Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council has elected a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bexhill!
Last Wednesday, at our Annual General Meeting, the Town Council resolved to elect Councillor Memish Huseyin as Mayor of Bexhill-on-Sea for 2026/27. Councillor Paul Peters will serve as Deputy Mayor.
Below are messages from the incoming Mayor and Deputy. Congratulations to them both!
"It is both a privilege and an honour to have been elected by my fellow councillors to serve as Mayor of Bexhill.
Having had the pleasure of serving as Deputy Mayor for the past two years, I now look forward to continuing to serve the residents of our wonderful town to the very best of my ability.
Bexhill has always held a very special place in my heart. My family and I have called this town home since 1987, when I first came here as a young child. I have grown up in this community, and my family have proudly owned and operated businesses in the town since that time. Bexhill has given so much to us over the years, and it is incredibly special to now see my own children growing up in such a fantastic town.
We are truly fortunate to live in a place with such a strong sense of community, wonderful residents, and a town full of history and character. As our former Mayor, Paul Wilson, often said, we are all here to make Bexhill even better. We already have a beautiful town, and by continuing to work together, we can ensure it continues to thrive for generations to come.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support and encouragement. I also want to recognise the dedication and hard work of our councillors and officers, whose commitment to our town is invaluable. It is through working together that we can continue to strengthen and improve Bexhill for all who live, work, and visit here.
Thank you once again for placing your trust in me. I look forward to serving the town during the year ahead."
"It is a great honour to serve as Deputy Mayor of Bexhill, a town built on community spirit, compassion and resilience.
I hope my own journey shows that no matter your background or the challenges you face in life, your future is still yours to shape.
I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Bexhill and helping to inspire hope and opportunity within our community."
